In Menopause or Heading there? Why it’s Harder to Lose Weight!
Let’s talk about the elephant in the room… like there isn’t ENOUGH to deal with during the menopause years, but making it HARDER to lose weight?!? The nerve!
Ok, now that that’s out of the way… what the heck is going on here and more importantly, what can we do about it?
🔹 Hormone Changes
This is pretty obvious by cycle changes, but there are things happening with our changing hormones that actually affect our blood sugar levels. Yup, hormone imbalances/drops can cause blood sugar disruption... even if we are eating and exercising the same way as before!
The adrenal glands get a shi* kicking during the menopause years and that can really affect how we feel, how we sleep and how we lose weight. Many people do not even know they need to help their adrenals out until they get closer to menopause and the ovaries stop giving them the support they need. Hormone levels go down, and so do the poor adrenals.
🔹 What can we do to improve things?
- Eating a diet that doesn’t spike our blood sugar (hello keto)!
- Balancing our hormones
- Adrenal support
- Adding some stricter things such as exercise and fasting (or if you’re already doing them, taking them to the next level)
- Being very mindful of what you put in your mouth – maybe some high carbs/sugar was something your body forgave quickly... recovery is not so quick and easy now
Group fave Debbie Brown (hormone specialist) is going to join me in this very important conversation... you don’t want to miss this one!
😊 We’ll be chatting about this on Monday, March 29 at 4:00 pm PST, please join us!
