Create a Fasting Lifestyle that Works for YOU!

I absolutely LOVE fasting... nothing takes down my inflammation, blood sugar and the number on the scale faster and more effortlessly than fasting!  Not to mention the health benefits like autophagy!

How do we create a fasting lifestyle that supports our health and weight loss goals, but also allows us to have a balanced and happy life?  Ah, THIS is the challenge!  You can listen to all the fasting experts out there, but the bottom line is if you can’t make this a part of your lifestyle, in a way that works for you and doesn’t SUCK, then you’re not going to do it.  End of story.

Let’s talk about the ways we can incorporate the various fasting methods into our keto lifestyle, but also get the ‘happiness factor’ we all love and deserve!

[I have a lot more detailed info on fasting in Guide #6 in our group]

🔷 Fast a little everyday

16:8, 20:4, OMAD or whatever works for you! A little daily fasting ads up to big rewards! This may not get the deep autophagy like an extended fast would, but it’s very powerful non-the-less. It’s especially useful if you have a hard time eating within your macros, as it’s hard to over eat when your eating window is smaller. Also helpful if you have a busy schedule or get tired of planning out meals.

🔷 Do one extended fast per week

Maybe your schedule is such at a 48+ hour fast once a week actually helps you out! I find when hubby is out of town that’s a great time for me to add in an extended fast... ‘cause that means I don’t have to cook! lol

🔷 Fast Monday - Friday

A lot of people like doing more fasting Monday to Friday, and then not so much on the weekends. It could afford you to do a ‘lazy keto/low carb’ weekends if that makes your heart happy and you’re still seeing results. This also makes life a little easier during the week when we are typically busy with work, but then gives us more time to cook some yummy keto/low carb meals on the weekends when we have more time.

🔷 ADF (alternate day fasting)

Alternate day fasting is like it sounds, you ‘eat’ one day and ‘fast’ the next, but you can schedule this however you want.  Right now I’m doing 3 – 36 hour fasts per week, so for me this is what it looks like:  Mon, Wed & Fri (36 hours of fasting), then I eat normally Tues, Thurs, Sat & Sun.  My ‘eat normally’ is lunch and dinner typically, but if I feel like breakfast or a happy hour snack between lunch and dinner, I have the wiggle room to do that.

Bottom line: We want fat loss results and we want to improve our health, but these things are not going to happen without consistency... but we also want to be happy 😊 The ‘happiness factor’ is not over rated and we need to keep this in mind or we’ll never be able to sustain this type of a lifestyle. Experiment and see what feels right for you 💗
