If you’ve spent any time at all in my Intentionally Bare Keto Support Group on Facebook, you know how I feel about the scale.
But just in case you haven’t, I’ll tell you now.
The scale is a liar.
A big, fat, no good, liar with its’ pants on fire. Well, if it had pants.
Here’s the deal. When you’re doing a lifestyle change, often your body is changing in ways that aren’t being seen on the scale, especially if you’re also working out. These changes are often reflected in the state of your health and your body composition. If you’re only weighing, it can be really frustrating because you may see very little or even zero movement!
That’s one of the reasons I decided to have a 3D body scan done. I wanted to be able to tell the difference between gaining muscle and losing fat; the scale can’t tell you that! I wanted to be able to see if the hard work I was doing was actually changing my body composition.
While COVID derailed my plans to get regular 3D body scans, it is something I hope to be able to do at some point on a regular basis. It’s a really good way to show how your body is healing, especially as you get close to your goal weight, as you integrate working out into your weight loss routine, and as you’re just starting out – all times when you tend to get frustrated.
