Some vinegar with that salad you’re munching on sounds really good, but what if I told you that apple cider vinegar could not only do wonders for your health but can also help you detox? There are so many ways to detox nowadays, and this one is one that I can get behind.
What is Apple Cider Vinegar?
For those of you who aren’t sure of what exactly it is, apple cider vinegar is fermented and distilled apple juice that tends to be used in salads as dressing and the like. There are many benefits to having apple cider vinegar daily, and it can really improve your overall health. Apple cider vinegar has been used as a supplement for ages.
Let’s de-TALK about detox.
...Terrible pun, sorry. But aside from that, apple cider vinegar is an excellent way to detox and gives us various benefits. However, there is a particular recipe that needs to be followed to go about it the right way. In my Intentionally Bare Keto Facebook group, I share the following apple cider vinegar detox recipe:
1 tbsp ACV
1 tbsp concentrated lemon juice
1 tbsp psyllium fiber
8-12 oz water
Then, you just have to chug it down, kind of like that first beer you had in college. It’s going to taste a little rough, but give it a try anyway.
What Apple Cider Vinegar Does For You
Using apple cider vinegar can have antimicrobial and antioxidant effects on your body, which is terrific for your health. A study showed that it was also linked to helping fight against obesity by slowing stomach emptying, making you feel full for longer. It also contains chemicals called polyphenols, which may stop cell damage. It also supports liver and kidney function! Because ACV helps to break down fats, it may improve heart function. There is some evidence to suggest that apple cider vinegar may improve eczema.
Benefits of Detoxing
You know how I feel about gut health. Well, detoxing with apple cider vinegar not only flushes out all the “sludgy” bacteria and toxins in your body, but it also gives you a bunch of new nutrients and minerals that can do wonders for your gut. Your potassium intake is increased, your pH balance is improved, and detoxing can be a great way to jumpstart weight loss. The enzymes and acids in apple cider vinegar may help control your appetite. Apple cider vinegar can ultimately help introduce good bacteria to the microbiome in your gut as well! Blood sugar levels may be regulated and reduced through apple cider vinegar detox, which may keep type 2 diabetes and inflammation at bay. It can even help with lowering high cholesterol levels.
A Few Things to Know
Despite all the benefits of an apple cider vinegar detox, there are a few downsides. It would be best if you were careful with how much vinegar you drink because it can erode your tooth enamel. You always need to make sure you dilute it with water and drink it with some food or bone broth to prevent enamel damage. Always remember to rinse your mouth right after. Apple cider vinegar can also have interactions with certain types of medications and other kinds of supplements. Apple cider vinegar detoxing is good for weight loss and nutrient intake, but you still need to maintain a healthy diet to reach optimum nutrition. Apple cider vinegar’s beneficial effect on eczema may be counterproductive if your doctor prescribes antibiotics because the antibiotics will kill off your gut flora. If that’s the case, make sure to continue using apple cider vinegar as soon as you discontinue the antibiotics so that you can not only help rebuild your gut microbiome but get the maximum positive effects of apple cider vinegar on eczema. In the end, it’s worth trying for the benefits. To detox with apple cider vinegar is doing your body a huge favor and a step towards a healthier lifestyle and a better diet.
