Bone Broth Protein Drink

Merry Christmas!

About 4 times a year in my Intentionally Bare Keto Facebook Support Group, we have a reboot. We all try so hard to stay on our keto plan, but occasionally, we allow ourselves to veer off our ideal plan … summer, vacations, holidays, etc…  A treat once in a while won’t hurt you. However, for some people, one treat leads to another, and before they know it, they’re not following keto anymore. Using my bone broth protein drink (along with OMAD) is a great way to help jumpstart your reboot!

Benefits of Bone Broth

There are several nutritional benefits to consuming bone broth. If you’ve ever made any kind of broth from scratch, and then stored it in the refrigerator, you know that it can become a gelatinous goo. That’s from the collagen that is in the bones. That collagen is beneficial to your bones, especially as you get older.

The marrow, stored deep in the bones and extracted by long, low cooking, has a ton of natural nutrients including iron, zinc, and manganese. That’s why we cook the bone broth for an extended period of time.

We use bones from grass-fed, pasture-raised beef.  Why beef?  Because beef bones have the highest amounts of collagen compared to any other animal.

With all of the available nutrients in bone broth, it also plays a key role in gut health. If you have a history of trying different diets, using strict caloric deficits as a weight loss tool, have digestive issues, allergies, get sick often or lead a high-stress life, chances are that your gut flora needs some help. Bone broth can help your gut to heal naturally.

Using Bone Broth Daily

For the best results, consuming bone broth daily can help you maintain your electrolytes, make it easier for you to reach both your protein and fat macros, and increase your energy levels. However, that means making fresh bone broth at least once a week. That’s not always practical.

I created my bone broth protein powder to address this need. It’s a dried powder made from pure bone broth. It has all of the gut-healing properties of fresh bone broth, but it’s portable and easy to mix. It’s actually better than ‘broth’ because it has 20g’s of protein per serving (‘broth’ bone broth only has 7g’s per cup) and has more collagen, minerals and amino acids. It’s bovine sourced, but there is no flavor because the bones have no flavor and it’s cooked without salt or other seasonings. That means you can make it into anything you want. It’s perfect for mixing into your yogurt smoothie, and it’s also great stirred into water, heated, and salted for a true bone broth experience.

I’ve made a video about my favorite way to enjoy my bone broth protein drink. I start with my powdered bone broth, add some MCT oil powder, some all-natural sweetener and a bit of cacao powder. That gives me a great chocolate flavored shake with 21 grams of protein and 7 grams of fat, but only 1 carb!  My skin, hair, and nails are strong and shiny, my gut is healed and happy and I’m rocking my keto!

The best part of this is that I can pop it in my travel mug and take it with me on the road, or I can add ice and a little heavy whipping cream, and feel like I’m having a decadent dessert!
